The spokesman for the Free today warned that the party will not align in the “addicted game” of the extreme right, even if PSD or Government do so, and recalled that it was isolated to the left in the vote against the motion of censure.

“ Nwe're not in a game that's addicted to starting, we're not counting to play on the board that the far right extends us. Let the government do this, let the PSD do this, let the [social] communication do this, in particular the TV information directors, is their problem. We will play our game with our rules and with our conditions ", warned the spokesman of the party.

Jorge Pinto spoke in the rentrée política do Livre, entitled “Os Setembristas”, which takes place until Sunday in Customs of Porto.

The spokesman for the Free – who shares the position with Isabel Mendes Lopes – recalled that his party was the only one on the parliamentary left who voted against the motion of censure to the Government presented by the Aquira this week (PS, PCP and BE abstained), using this moment to distinguish their party from the rest of the political quadrant.

“The Free, not surprising, was the only left-wing party that voted against this motion. This is due to various reasons. The first is because we do not accept those who want to weaken our rule of law. ... We do not align with those who use democracy want to destroy it ", sustained.

In an intervention of about twenty minutes, which ended the work of the day in Customs of Porto, Jorge Pinto insisted on an idea he defended when he took office as spokesman in July: the party “will govern”.

“ Convince yourself that things will change and change thanks to us. Be convinced the Free is here to rule. We will rule: on a local scale, on a national scale. Not because we want to, not because we thirst for power. But because we know that this is the best way to implement the proposals we have. These proposals that we know are the best for the country ", argued.

Among the proposals that the party wants to present to the country, Jorge Pinto addressed the crisis with the increase of fuels and food baskets, accusing PS and PSD of “talking about VAT”.

“ The state must be firm in ensuring the effective competition of the oil companies that are profiting millions while we all suffer at the end of the week to fill the car deposit,” he said, insisting on proposals such as setting an exceptional profit margin for oil companies or returning 100% of VAT on essential goods for low-income families.

Jorge Pinto also referred to the electoral growth of the party, stressing that the Free “doubled militancy within a year”.

However, the spokesman warned: “The Free has been, is and will have to remain a very cohesive party ideologically”, defending the European ideals, environmentalists, and the “libertarian left” that “is not that of the chainsaw or of selfishness”, moving away from projects such as the Liberal Initiative.

Moments before, in a conversation about the role of cooperatives in which the former leader and founder Rui Tavares participated, Jorge Pinto defended the idea that the Free should “bring cooperatives to the 21st century”.

The deputy argued that the work of the Livre should go through “look at what was cooperative in Portugal in the 70s and 80s, realize what went wrong, understand why it is often said that it went worse than it went, and what can be done to correct”.
