“ Nthe sequence of the issuance of a weather notice by the IPMA [Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere], which provides exceptionally high temperatures from July 2, the competent entities determined that the Lisb-On could not take place in the Forest Park of Monsanto”, taking place “exceptionally in the clearing of the Garden of the Park Eduardo VII”, reads a publication shared in the official accounts of the festival on social networks.

The “inevitable” adjustments of production and reorganization of hours of performances led to the festival now taking place between 2:00 and 2:00 p.m. on each of the days, rather than between 4:00 and 4:00 p.m.

The organization ensures that it is working “to make the impact as small as possible” and that the poster updates will be communicated “very soon”.

The district of Lisbon is under red warning because of the heat from 00:00 Thursday, being active at least until 23:00 Friday.

The red warning is the most serious and comes at a time when Portugal enters a period of high temperatures, with maximums that can reach 44 degrees and minimum between 24o and 28o.

On Tuesday, at the end of the day, the City Council of Culture of Lisbon, Diogo Moura (CDS-PP), said, in the Municipal Assembly, that the protocol of the municipality with Lisb-On provides that the event is “cancelled immediately” in the case of red hot weather warning, without any compensation payment, and the CML will try to find a viable alternative that does not call security into question.

The Lisbon Municipal Assembly approved on Tuesday non-financial support of EUR 843,736,15 to the festival, which includes about EUR 710,000 tax exemption.

Also predicting a protocol for the editions of 2026, 2027 and 2028, the proposal had the votes against PCP, Livre, BE, PEV and PAN, the abstention of PS and Aquira, and the votes in favor of PSD, IL, CDS-PP.
