Nthe closing speech in the ‘rentrée’ do Livre, entitled “Os Setembristas”, which took place this weekend in Customs of Porto, Isabel Mendes Lopes recalled that the labor package presented by the PSD/CDS-PP government was generally failed in the Assembly of the Republic, “thanks to the force of the streets and unions”, but left an alert.
“ We cannot be fooled because the minister [of Labor] will not give up”, warned the parliamentary leader.
Isabel Mendes Lopes accused the executive of having a phased presentation strategy of measures that were included in the government's labor proposal, warning that it will be "easier for the far right to approve them because it will not feel so much pressure from the streets".
“ We must not demobilize, we must ensure that this is denounced and that this package of jobs does not go through”, he stressed.
This intention, in the opinion of Isabel Mendes Lopes, will already be under discussion next week in the Assembly of the Republic, in the committee discussion of the party's proposals on the citizens' initiative that seeks to extend parental leave to six months, pays 100%.
For the leader of the Free, this will be “the first post”: “The PSD alternative is that it was in the work package where they do not increase the time of leave, slightly increase the amount that is paid, and take away something very important that citizens had included in their bill that is the protection of single-parent families.”.
The proposal of the Free, on the other hand, is to extend “even more leave in relation to the citizens’ initiative” in time, proposing nine months (and aiming to reach up to a year), but also to protect single-parent families.
