O Free will appeal to plenary of the President of Parliament's decision to reject an urgent debate on the crisis in housing and considers IL's request for a meeting on the subject ironic.
This decision was announced by the spokesman of the Free Jorge Pinto, in a press conference at the Assembly of the Republic, after José Pedro Aguiar-White today rejected the review requested by the Free to hold on Wednesday an urgent debate on housing, claiming that the time interval between urgent debates is not observed.
Jorge Pinto considered that the President of Parliament blocked the debate, with an understanding of which he disagreed, and said that his bench will challenge the other parties to comment on the issue at the beginning of the plenary on Wednesday, by bringing an appeal.
The party's intention is for the discussion to take place on Wednesday, only day with plenarys scheduled this week. Jorge Pinto stated that the appeal will be filed at the beginning of the work giving time for a member of the Government to participate in the discussion, as this presence is mandatory.
The spokesman for the Free was also asked about the fact that the IL announced today that it will invite the leaders of all parties with parliamentary seats to a joint “open and frank conversation” to find consensus to respond to the housing crisis.
Jorge Pinto left open his presence at this meeting, stating that he has not yet spoken to Isabel Mendes Lopes, with whom he shares the leadership of the party, but considered “at least ironic” the request of the liberals.
The honourable Member recalled that IL supported the new urban lease scheme submitted by the Government and distanced itself from the proposals so far put forward by the liberals.
“We are not in line with political marketing moves in which IL is a user and a timer. What we are asking is that this debate be held in the Assembly of the Republic, as open as possible for the country,” he added.
