O Government of the Brazilian President, Lula da Silva, anticipated the payments of the Bolsa Família, subsidy for the poorest families, so that all beneficiaries receive the values by Wednesday, before the second round of the presidential Sunday.
Payments are usually distributed over the last 10 working days of each month.
In October, they were scheduled between 19 and 30 days, but will be completed on Wednesday, 21st, four days before the vote.
The announcement was made on Monday by the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Combating Hunger, which justified anticipation as a preventive measure to mitigate the effects of the climate phenomenon El Niño on the most vulnerable families.
The grant, called Bolsa Família, was increased by about 15%, in an update announced by Lula da Silva before the first round of elections, in which he was behind Senator Flávio Bolsonaro.
The minimum value per family rose from 600 reais (106.74 euros to the current exchange rate) to 691 reais (122.86 euros), being received by about 19.3 million families, according to official data.
Lula, who benefits from the public machine at his disposal as President, has been betting during the campaign on measures and promises with direct impact on the daily lives of Brazilians.
He was able to get Congress to approve the so-called end of the six-day scale for a rest, announced support of five thousand reais (888 euros) for individual micro-enterprisers, free public transport on weekends and a new edition of the debt renegotiation program.
