Matosinhos delivered the last houses of the 512 built with the PRR today

Nthe total, now exist in that municipality of the district of Porto six new neighborhoods, which represented an investment of 122 million euros in rehabilitation and construction of new houses.

Rita, Teresa and Ana received three of the 105 keys delivered today and confessed that this day marks “a new beginning of life”, a “moment yet to believe” and “a relief”.

At 46 and with three daughters, for Rita Set up a new house “is the opportunity” to start over: “It is a new beginning of life for me and my daughters. I was in a slightly more precarious situation, because it was difficult to find apartments for all four, with a bearable income, this was even an opportunity to live”, he said.

They lived all four in a T0 and waited for that key a year, “lucky”.

“ I happen to think I was very lucky, because I delivered the papers just now in August a year. In February I was called to ask if I wanted a new house and I, of course, said yes”, he said.

And from February to today “it was an anxiety, always seeing when the house was ready, it was today,” said Rita.

The first dinner in the new house is not yet decided, even because, said Rita, “the house has nothing”, so he joked, “maybe it will be on the floor and some pizzas ordered”.

For Ana Ferreira, 42 years and two children, the key she received today is “still a moment to believe”, after complicated years: “My life has gone a long way and, without the possibility of renting a suitable house, I have lived, please, in a family home, without great conditions, with much moisture, floor and degraded walls, small”.

Ana waited two years for this key. “I am very grateful, it was even quick. This represents well-being for my children and health, because in the long run the situation we were going to complicate. Now we will be reborn in a new home with all the conditions ", explained.

When she entered the new house, Ana said she will “sit on the floor of the room and look at everything”, even because she has not seen the house: “My daughter is here, the little one did not come, she is 3 years old, but my daughter was moved and is happy because she will finally have a room in condition for her,” she said.

At the age of 73, Maria Soares regrets leaving the old house, where she “had no conditions” but liked the place. Today he received the keys to the new house with his daughter, Teresa: “My parents waited more than 20 years and now my father is bedridden and not a bathroom had,” he said.

For this mother and daughter, the feeling is “double happiness”, because they will be neighbors. Teresa can continue to care for her parents, “but each in her home”, even because she lived with her husband and son in an annex to her parents’ home.

“ Now everything will be different”, vaticinou Teresa.

These new dwellings have a “special” characteristic for the reality of the county. “In the case of this housing complex, the Flor de Infesta has a special feature because, in addition to having built these houses, we made the recovery of old buildings,” said the mayor, Luísa Willow.

And he explained: “These buildings had structure, they were abandoned carcasses in the center of São Mamede de Infesta and were thus decades. The House bought them and adapted the typologies and thus we have 105 houses and eight shops ", described the mayor.

With the new 512 housing fires, “Matosinhos increased the percentage of public housing to 6%” and the municipality has already expected more investment.

“ The financing PRR is over, we are still waiting for the national measures to launch a new phase of housing construction, but we have already awarded new construction because we went to the bank, we asked for loan, we have financial capacity, we ask for loan, we will execute and when the national funding comes we already have the work in place ", said Luísa Salgueiro.
