Doctors Without Borders warn that genocide on Gaza lasts three years

The non-governmental organization Doctors Without Borders (MSF) today warned that the Israeli authorities perpetuate a “genocide” in the Gaza Strip continuously three years ago, destroying the means of survival.

“Israel is progressively suffocating Gaza and continues to commit genocide,” the MSF said.

This, while the Israeli army extends its presence beyond the yellow line, announced by Israel days after the ceasefire agreement in October 2025.

The warning comes on the eve of three years of the beginning of the attacks of the Islamic resistance movement (Hamas) – which killed more than a thousand and 250 people kidnapped – and the subsequent military offensive against the Palestinian enclave.

The MSF denounces that the Israeli authorities are “confining” the population to an increasingly reduced space and destroying the conditions necessary for survival.

“The ‘yellow line’ cannot be considered simply a line on the map. It has been converted into a mechanism of ethnic around and cleanliness, while at the same time distancing communities from infrastructure, health care, water and other essential elements they need to survive,” said MSF responsible for responding to emergencies in Gaza, Amande Bazerolle.

In this sense, “threat is increasingly immediate” for those living near the ‘yellow line’, increasing the uncertainty of approaching an area that “is not clearly marked or marked”.

In this way, more and more people in Gaza are in danger of being shot by Israeli forces and facing more difficulties in accessing medical assistance from MSFs and other organisations, which had to stop the transport of essential goods such as water.

With this advance of Israeli troops, highlights MSF, families live “in conditions of overcrowding and uninhabitability, without sufficient access to drinking water, sanitation, safe shelter or medical care”, with the risk that this poses for the spread of diseases.

The MSF teams treated “only in 2026”, more than 11,000 cases of skin diseases such as mange and reported more than 1,500 cases of chickenpox in June and July, as well as gastroenteritis, acute respiratory infections, hepatitis and lice.

“ Most people have less than six litres of water per day for household use and have limited access to basic hygiene items such as soap and detergent (...). At the same time, we suffer from a serious shortage of medical material, including the cream we use to treat mange was restricted by Israeli authorities,” warned the person responsible for medical activities in Gaza, Murad Asaliya.

In addition to the health equipment and equipment, Israel has also restricted the supply of motor oil and spare parts, which is also impacting infrastructure to support hospitals, health centers and ambulances, paralyzing their operation, with frequent breakdowns of electricity generators.

The MSF foresees that the destruction of more than 80% of infrastructure in Gaza, as well as violence and continuous displacement, physical and psychological diseases in the Gaza Strip will prevent any significant recovery in the enclave in the coming years.

On the contrary, “generations are needed” only to recover the damage caused in the last three years.

“Destruction, displacement and deprivation were normalized. These are practices that Israel carries out with complete impunity. Governments should now act to ensure that Israel ceases destruction and killings, preventing ethnic cleansing and failing to deny the Palestinian population the means of survival,” Amande Bazerolle demanded.
