Daniel Chapo, spoke in Nacala Porto, in the province of Nampula, north of the country, where he made the delivery of checks to companies benefiting from the Catalytic Fund for Innovation and Demonstration (FCID), implemented by the Development Agencies of the Zambeze Valley (AdVZ) and Integrated Development of the North (ADIN), as well as the Business Recovery Fund, aimed at supporting companies affected by the cyclones and post-election demonstrations.

“ With the checks we deliver today to the companies covered, our government has already made available to the national private sector, through financing mechanisms, about 74 million US dollars, with tangible benefits for companies and small Mozambican producers,” said Daniel Chapo.

The FCID – Connecta Negócios programme started in 2025 and is “a structuring initiative”, with a budget of 100 million dollars (84.4 million euros), funded by the World Bank and implemented through the Ministry of Finance.

The purpose of the fund is to strengthen the performance of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MMEs) in Mozambique, “through economic links and access to markets”, as the Mozambican Government has said before.

The Enterprise Recovery Fund has already started with an allocation of EUR 4.5 million, covering 93 companies so far, as the head of state indicated today, and the two financing initiatives focus on the provinces of the country's centre and north.

Chapo stated that these funding will enable companies to invest in infrastructure improvement, in the acquisition of rolling stock and inputs, as well as in the maintenance and creation of jobs.

“ It is our goal as government to produce more, export more, consume more to generate wealth not only for the funded, but to combat hunger within the Mozambican people and increase exports in those cases of income crops,” said Mozambican President, calling for speed in returning the funded values.

At the time, Chapo praised the World Bank's efforts in providing grants to support national micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and promised to strengthen the industry's drive.

“ We reiterate that our trip to Washington and the privilege and honor of having chaired this forum on weaknesses, vulnerabilities and conflicts as the only guest is because the World Bank is the partner of the Government of Mozambique and these about 74 million US dollars for these young people who have received funds result in our travels, from our friendship and our continuous search for funding and the results are here in sight,” said Chapo.
