Othe representative unions of banking workers reached an agreement with Montepio to update 3% of wage tables and pensions.
With this agreement, announced today, the unions decided to cancel the demonstration and strike scheduled for Montepio.
“The negotiation process with the General Montepio for the salary update, for the year 2026 ended, after weeks of demanding negotiations and difficult positions to approach,” the trade unions indicated in a joint statement.
The agreement reached the National Union of Banking Boards and Technicians, the National Union of Banking Workers, Insurance and Technologies, the Union of Workers of the Financial Sector of Portugal and the Mais – Union of the Financial Sector.
The 3% update of wage scales and retirement pensions also includes the other financial expression clauses covered by the agreement.
This agreement “results from the persistence in defending the valuation of wages and pensions of banks and allows – after the ACT of the banking sector (which covers the novobank, Banco Santander and BPI, among other institutions) and the ACT of the Agricultural Credit – to conclude the negotiation of the update for 2026 with a favorable commitment also regarding the Montepio General”, reads.
