Mazda's about to make one of her electrical car icons. We talked about MX-5, a light roadster and clearly sporting hanger produced since 1989.

According to CarScoops, in statements to Auto Motor und Sport, the manufacturer's executive director, Masahiro Moro, revealed that the new generation of the car is being worked to have electric motorization.

Despite that, believes that it is possible to keep the weight contained, in the ton house (1,000 to 1,200 kg). At least that's what the engineers are pointing at, according to the manager. But for that, there is a challenge: “Make basic structure lighter without using exotic materials as carbon fiber“.

The future can be made predominantly of electric cars – taking into account current environmental concerns. And Masahiro Moro is of the opinion that the next MX-5 “should also be prepared for a combustion engine-free scenario”.
