“I didn’t need to feel good every day to be the best”

Mthis is after Maycon Douglas's death, his girlfriend Raquel Coelho made a new publication on his Instagram page about grief. 

On Wednesday, August 18th, the young woman shared several images and gathered a few words about this delicate process. 

“There was a time when I didn’t even know what I liked,” he started by introducing it to the images.

“ I began to realize that I didn’t need to feel good every day to be improving,” he added.

“ Gradually, I stopped waiting for the day when everything would go back to normal. I began to realize that perhaps normal was no longer possible, that I would have to find a new ‘normal’, continued in other two images. 

“I recognized myself again in small things. I started doing things without thinking what they meant. I wanted to leave the house again just because I did”, one can still read between the shares. 

“ I think I spent too much time trying to get back to who I was. When I realized that I didn’t need it, everything got a little lighter,” he said. 

In the caption of the photographs that were completed with their vents, Raquel Coelho also reflected:

“I don’t know exactly when it happened, but somewhere along the way I stopped being afraid to be alone. There are things that have changed, things that have been left behind and others that I have learned to carry. I started going without anyone. Making plans, even without knowing with whom. Enjoying the days without needing them to be perfect. And I guess that's when I realized I wasn't going back to who I was. I was finally slowly returning to being myself.”

Remember that Maycon Douglas was reported missing since the dawn of December 31, 2025. After that, the young man's car was found by the authorities. It was submerged by the lighthouse of St Michael the Archangel in Nazareth. 

After days of searching at sea, the body of Maycon Douglas was found in early January 2026 at South Beach, Nazareth.
