A aircraft was conducting a routine mission to Lagos, Nigeria's economic centre, when it crashed into the Igbokoda area, detailed in a statement the Nigerian Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo.
The aircraft disappeared from the radar by 09:00 (local time, the same in Lisbon) and crashed approximately halfway between Edo and Lagos.
The Air Force said it was an ATR-42 aircraft.
No casualties or damage to the aircraft have yet been revealed.
