In farewell to Cristiano, Seguro thanks “the way he inspired Portuguese”

O President of the Republic, António José Seguro, today thanked Cristiano Ronaldo “the way he represented the national selection, inspired the Portuguese and took Portugal’s name around the world”.

This message by António José Seguro was published in the Presidency of the Republic account on social network Instagram the day Cristiano Ronaldo announced his withdrawal from the Portuguese football team, accompanied by a photograph of the two.

“In the name of Portugal, I thank Cristiano Ronaldo for the way he represented the national selection, inspired the Portuguese and took the name of Portugal around the world”, reads in the message.

“I imagine that this is one of the most difficult days of Cristiano Ronaldo’s sports life, but I am sure that, as so often happened, he has the Portuguese at his side,” says the head of state.

António José Seguro is sure that “Portugal will continue to count on his love for the country, which will always represent the delivery he has placed in every training, in every game, in every goal that has filled us with joy”.

“Happy birthday, Christian. And thank you very much”, he adds.
