“Ithus, a new chapter of the Torreense process was mentioned, with the firm purpose of solidifying its growth”, says the club of the West, in a statement issued a few hours after the officialization of the departure of the former technician.
After passing through the main teams of Estrela da Amadora, Belenenses, 1st December and Fabril, the new 41-year-old ‘man of the rudder’ reaches the leadership of the Torrienses after the departure of Luís Tralhão, which led the ‘blue gréná’ to the unprecedented conquest of the Cup of Portugal and consequent direct clearance for the league phase of the Liga Europa.
Tralhão had arrived at Torres Vedras in 2024/25, assuming in January this year the main team, after the departure of Vítor Martins.
In six months, he led the team to the promotion play-off to the main echelon, which failed in front of Casa Pia, and to the achievement of the 'Queen' test, before Sporting, for 2-1, after extension, which was also worth the unprecedented European clearance.
However, the beginning of the troubled season led the SAD of Torreense to opt for the change of coach, betting on João Nuno for the succession.
The young technician, who in the last season guided the Amadora Star in the I League and who signed until 2028, should debut on the visit to the Portimonese stronghold, scheduled for October 31, at 14:00, in duel to count for the ninth day of the II League.
The European premiere is scheduled for November 5, when the Torreense receives the FC Ararat from Armenia on the fourth day of the League Europa league phase.
