According to Vidas magazine, there is no information from the first marriage of Dams. It was with the second wife, Maria Cristina Veloso Brito Thorbjornsen, who had the first two children: João Nicolau, born in 1992, and Carolina, born in 1995.
The marriage to journalist Margarida Pinto Correia took place in 1998 but 17 years later the divorce arrived. Together they also had two children: Nuno, in 2001, and José Alberto, in 2004. Despite the end of the relationship, the two always maintained a good friendship. Proof of this was the message the communicator received from her ex-husband in an interview she gave Manuel Luís Goucha.
“I want to tell you that I am fortunate to have Margarida as the mother of my younger children and to have this friend that I have and to whom I tell and will always tell for life. So, Margarida, I want to wish you all the best for your life”, confessed the artist.
In an interview with the program “High Definition” in 2013, Dams mentioned the luck of children “having two fantastic mothers”.
“ It is to them that I dedicate my bow and admiration because they fulfill what my children expect of them, full motherhood ", confessed.

The importance of Margarida Pinto Correia in her life
“ When a woman brings two children into your life she becomes an uncontrollably attached person to you for the rest of her life. On the other hand it brought me more consistency, more demand, brought me down to the ground [...] This is all called happiness ", confided in the same interview to Daniel Oliveira.
