Paulo Fonseca reported, at the end of the morning of Monday, to the main team of the Olympique Lyon who is effectively leaving the position of main coach, after having been approached by Sporting to face the already confirmed resignation of Rui Borges, which ended up not resisting a start of sports season 2026/27 below expectations.

The information was originally advanced by the French television station RMC Sport and however confirmed by Sports to Minute with a source close to the process, which stressed that it was an emotional moment, in the face of the relationship maintained between both parties, the image, the way the coach celebrated, on the eve, the victory achieved over Angers, in Groupama Arena, by 2-1.

It will now be a mere matter of time before the Portuguese-Mozambican takes a trip to Portugal, to settle the details of the contract he will sign with the club (which, as already reported by the Sports to Minute, is what it supports since childhood), and the most recent rumors point to it being more than two years and contemplate an order between 350 and 400,000 euros per month.

In this way, Paulo Fonseca's journey to the helm of the Olympique Lyon, less than two years after being hired to face the departure of Pierre Sage, the current helmsman of the Crystal Palace (which, curiously, is even the one who has been most ‘asked’ by the adherents to replace him, above all, due to the difficulties he has come to passae in England).
