O PCP today considered that the PSD/CDS-PP government is “the biggest factor of instability” for the country and called for the “full investigation” of political responsibilities for police action against demonstrators.
In response to the police charges this morning in Lisbon and Porto, the PCP states, in a statement, that “the government makes a restrictive interpretation of the law contrary to the practice of the last decades and the Constitution and gives guidance to the repressive action of police forces”.
“ It is not indignation and protest that are illegitimate, but rather the government that acts outside the law, the Constitution and April”, adds the CFP, which accuses the executive led by Luís Montenegro of acting “with intolerable prepotency and authoritarianism”.
For the CFP, “the PSD/CDS government is increasingly the biggest factor of instability, both for the lives of the people and for the political and social situation of the country”.
The CFP associates “this evening’s events in Lisbon and Porto, such as those that preceded them in recent days”, with an “intensification of the PSD/CDS government’s offensive, supported by Aquira and IL, against the living conditions and rights of workers and the people”.
“ Demanding the full discharge of the political responsibilities of the repressive action in progress, what is required are solutions to the problems, measures that respond to the problems that affect the lives of the majority of the people, namely the right to housing ", defends the party.
In this statement, an appeal is made to “the expansion of the struggle of the workers, the people, youth, students and other layers affected by the action of the Government”, immediately, “in the actions of November 14 for the right to housing and the national demonstration called by CGTP-IN for the 21st of this month”.
