News to Minutes

Patrick Clancy revealed several details about the state of her ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, at the time she murdered her three children, noting that she compared it to a “dream”.

In an interview with CBS News’ “60 Minutes”, which aired on Sunday, Patrick Clancy revealed some details about the conversations he had with his ex-wife after killing his three children: Cora, 5, Dawson, 3 years old, and Callan, 8 months old.

The crime, remember, occurred in January 2023.

“You asked Lindsay why she did that?” journalist Ross Douthat questioned.

“ I asked him if he remembers. She said it was like a dream. He remembered this [the murder] in the same way he remembered a dream after waking up.”, replied Patrick.

Note that this was the first interview that Patrick Clancy has had since his ex-wife's trial started. The man confessed that he may not have been able to deal with all aspects of postpartum depression and recalled the moment when he wished that at least one of the children could survive the tragedy.

In an emotional way, Patrick said he believed that he gave his “best, with what he knew at the time”, referring to the fact that the woman was suffering from a severe depression, for which he asked several times for help.

“I live with the consequences of this every day,” he fired, adding that, at the time, “I could imagine what it would be like to feel very, very anxious or depressed. But I didn’t know how to deal with a postpartum disease.”.

Patrick Clancy will be a father again

Following this interview, the journalist who spoke to Patrick Clancy confirmed to the media that the man will be a father.

The revelation was made this morning, in the framework of Ross Douthat's participation in the CBS Mornings program, where he spoke about the Sunday interview, eventually making the revelation.

In yesterday's interview, the man had asked a question that had left this doubt on the air: “Are you going to start a family?” he questioned, having both waved affirmatively.

Lindsay Clancy's trial

Lindsay, remember, began to be tried in August this year and the prosecution intended to be criminally charged and sentenced to life imprisonment without possibility of parole, maintaining that it was a “deliberate and planned crime”.

The prosecutors accused the woman of having calculated the time required for her husband to leave home and to have researched, in the previous weeks and days, “suicide methods”, “symptoms of psychosis” and “treatment for sociopaths”. In addition, they argue that the window jump was an attempt to stage a suicide to escape responsibility.

The defense, in turn, argued that Lindsay Clancy cannot be held criminally responsible for a serious mental pathology.

His lawyer, Kevin Reddington, claims that his wife suffered from postpartum psychosis and undiagnosed bipolar disorder.

In early September, U.S. justice annulled the trial after the jurors had not reached an agreement on the verdict.

To reach a verdict, the 12 jurors needed unanimity, but the jury was apparently divided among 11 jurors in favor of acquittal based on Lindsay Clancy's lack of criminal responsibility and one against this verdict, according to the state of the deliberations that were known through exchanges between the judge, the defense and the prosecution.

The conclusion of a “blocked jury” occurs when the judge has to note that, after several days of deliberations, the jurors cannot reach an agreement. In this case, the trial is cancelled and can be held later, with a new jury.

The next date for a situation is on the day september 29.

“I believe it was the disease that did it,” says Lindsay Clancy’s ex

Lindsay Clancy's ex-husband takes over in an exclusive interview that forgave his ex-wife and believes it was her mental health that caused the tragedy that dictated the death of her three children in 2023.
