“ Nwe're not looking for a confrontation. We are strengthening our alliances, developing our accesses and modernising our equipment, not to wage a war, but to prevent it,” Nawrocki assured during his intervention in the high-level week of the UN General Assembly.

The Polish Head of State said that over many years Russia has tried “very persistently” to conquer a neighbouring country and destabilise an entire region.”.

“Russia is destabilising the situation in Europe through open aggression, hybrid operations, subversive acts and sabotage,” he said.

Nawrocki accused Moscow of continuing to have a “neocolonialist and imperialist vision of the world”, with which he tries to impose his will on other nations.

“Poland is very aware of the consequences of imperialism and Russian colonialism. History has taught us that freedom and sovereignty cannot be defended alone”, he added.

In this sense, he defended his intention to “fight against the threats that the aggressive policies of the Kremlin represent” from the perspective of defending “freedom and sovereignty” rather than confrontation.

The Polish President claimed his status as an ally member of NATO, an organization whose approach to Russian borders has historically been rejected by Moscow, which considers its eastward expansion a threat to its security.

Nawrocki also applauded the agreement signed between the US, Denmark and Greenland to strengthen security in the Arctic, which, among other things, rejects the establishment of military bases in China and Russia in the region.

On the other hand, the Polish Head of State, supported by the US President, Donald Trump, celebrated the invitation for his country to participate in the forthcoming G20 meeting, organised by the President of the United States, and claimed the need to listen to Eastern Europe.
