The Public Administrations (AP) sector recorded a budgetary surplus of 0.5% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the first half of the year, the National Statistical Institute (INE) reported today.

“ Cconsidering the first semesters of 2025 and 2026, there was a decrease in the balance in public accounting and national accounting, although less significant in the balance in national accounting ", indicates the INE, adding that in national accounts, the balance was set at 0.5% of GDP.
On a quarterly basis, the balance of PAs in the second quarter of 2026 was EUR 1,325 million, corresponding to 1.6% of GDP, compared with 1.7% in the same period, according to the statistical office.
