A next week it should bring good news to drivers on national territory, as the forecasts so far point to a marked decline in fuel prices, confirmed source of sector News to Minutes. As there are still two days left to negotiate, we must wait for Friday to know the concrete values.
Nevertheless, this fall in the price of diesel and petrol will reflect the drop in oil prices in international markets, which has been happening throughout this week.
Quotation of Brent oil barrel for delivery in January finished on wednesday in the futures market of London with a marked devaluation of 8.67% for the 94.62 dollars.
The North Sea crude, a reference in Europe, ended the session at Intercontinental Exchange to rate $9.04 below the 103.66 with which it ended the transactions on Tuesday.
Already in the session of Thursday, Brent recovered slightly, moments ago, for 95.35 dollars per barrel, according to the investang.
What's motivating the oil slide?
To the fall of the quotation contributed the result of the US elections, particularly negative for the Republican camp. Vice-President J. D. Vance assigns the results to the war on Iran.
The oil market had not reacted strongly to the outcome of the elections and, throughout the day, Brent remained between the 103 and 104 dollars, in an interval similar to the previous days.
The sharp descent took place from 4:30 p.m., when Vance published on social networks a long reflection on Republican defeat.
“War is the reason for our defeat,” he wrote, adding: “Everyone knows why we lost. Any frank conversation about the way forward must, from now on, begin there.”.
Brent broke the $100 barrier
The Brent oil barrel fell on Wednesday to values below $100, after the significant victory of the Democrats in the US legislative elections, which, according to analysts, could limit Trump's margin of manoeuvre in the war against Iran.
The price of oil has not fallen below the $100 barrier since the beginning of October. Its U.S. equivalent, the West Texas Intermediate barrel (WTI), for delivery in December, dropped 7.93%, to $88.47.
After the results, Trump acknowledged that the war in Iran contributed to the Republican Party's historic defeat in the mid-term elections, but admitted that he would do the same again to prevent Tehran from having nuclear weapons.
