O state of the weather in continental Portugal and in the archipelago of Madeira will change from Friday, forecasting sometimes heavy rain, but with mild temperatures, Lusa told meteorologist Maria João Frada.
According to the meteorologist of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), for today it is still forecast low cloudy or clear sky, still with sharp night cooling, with low temperatures close to zero degrees Celsius, mainly in the northeast transmontano and Beira Alta.
“ For the morning [Thursday], the day begins with a little cloudy or clear sky, however, gradually from the afternoon we will have increased nebulosity by high clouds initially by the South region and then extend to the Central region, being already an announcement for a change of time ", said.
According to Maria João Frada, from the afternoon of Friday it is expected that there will be periods of rain on the west coast, which will gradually extend to the remaining interior, mainly to the north and center.
“On Friday, we will have a small rise in the maximum temperature values, because with precipitation and the nebulosity will come a mass of tropical air from the Atlantic. This mass of air that we have on the territory of the continent is a mass of polar air that comes from the northeast, from the interior of the European continent, and will come from the west”, he said.
According to Maria João Frada, the polar air mass will be replaced by a tropical air mass that is associated with an altitude-expression depression that comes from the Atlantic, which will be positioned from Friday, and expected throughout the next week, west of the continent.
“ It walks west of the territory and will bring precipitation that in a few days will sometimes be strong with thunderstorms. We will thus have the first episode of severe or sometimes strong precipitation in some of the days, which will probably cause the IPMA issue notice of precipitation ", it has advanced.
The meteorologist recalled that during October there was no episode of heavy precipitation, which is usual, especially in the second fortnight.
“ In October we had dry weather, but now in November it will be a precipitation scenario that will most likely impact on mainland Portugal and also on Madeira ", said.
The wind will tend to be from the south quadrant from Friday with the minimum temperatures rising significantly, between 05 and 09 degrees, until Saturday
“ We stop being cold at night, and we get to be mild. Maximum temperatures may rise slightly during day 06 [Friday] and then continue. They should vary appreciably in the interior between 16 and 24 degrees, and between 22/24 interior Alentejo, Tagus Valley and Algarve in the 22/24 degrees. In the remaining territory will oscillate between 16 to 20 ", said.
