O vice President of the PSD Alexandre Poço accused the PS today of “lack of decorum” and of being the “evident responsible” for aggravating the crisis in housing, but expressed openness to assess “complementary proposals” to government policy.
In a press conference at the national headquarters of the housing party, the deputy and vice-chairman of the PSD's bench defended the government's housing policies, expressing his conviction that all the measures under way or under discussion in Parliament will be able to moderate prices.
“ In the lease, the law that is in force today is not the law that we propose. The law that is in force today and that has caused problems in access to the rental market is the law of the previous government ", said Alexandre Poço.
In a criticism addressed to the PS, the Social Democratic leader considered “extraordinary and revealing lack of decorum” to listen to those who ruled for eight years and “watched the price of double housing” talking about the subject as if they had “no responsibility”.
Asked whether the PS is responsible for the manifestations of Lisbon and Porto focused on the cost of housing, Alexandre Poço refused to make this direct correlation.
“ It seems obvious to me that if, between 2015 and 2023, the price of houses doubled there is a clear responsible ", insisted.
Already to the question whether the PSD admits to dropping the new urban lease regime, approved in general with the Aquis after a written agreement with the Social Democrats, the ‘vice’ of the party and the bench expressed intention to continue the process, saying hope that the two parties “honor their word.”
Alexandre He argued that “the government is doing a lot” in the housing area, admitting that measures may not yet be having an effect on the market.
“The PSD is available to discuss other solutions with other parties within the Assembly of the Republic,” he said, saying that this has happened in the past with diplomas already approved in the area of housing.
