O King Harald V, 89 years old, monarch of Norway since 1991, has been hospitalized – it is the third time this year, having been hospitalized in February and March.
In question, as the Royal House advances, there is hemolytic anemia. “The king has been treated with cortisone in recent weeks due to hemolytic anemia. This caused accumulation of fluid in the body, which needs to be treated in a hospital ", can be read in the note of the royal institution.
The Norwegian king will be on leave for two weeks, during which time his son, Crown Prince Haakon, will perform the role of regent.
It is recalled that in February and March this year, Harald V was on sick leave for several weeks due to a leg infection that required him to stay in a hospital in Tenerife, Spain, where he was on vacation at the time.
He is currently the oldest reigning monarch in Europe.
The health of other members of the Norwegian royal family has also been a cause for concern. Queen Sonja was hospitalized in May after having heart problems. The king's sister, Princess Astrid, also has heart problems and the heir princess Mette-Marit suffers from a severe lung disease, having received a lung transplant this summer.
