A Renault develops platforms for your cars that do not hesitate to share with other manufacturers in partnership agreements – being the most visible case to Nissan, member of his alliance.

Micra is based on Renault 5 E-Tech and the RGMP Small platform and, inside, the differences are practically imperishable. Recently, they also appeared the new Leaf (sit on the AmpR Medium platform) and Pixo, which has the same AmpR Small platform and similar format to Twingo E-Tech.

In the next few years, renault technology will equip vehicles of brands like Mitsubishi and even Ford – that has plans to develop two electrics for Europe based on the foundations of the French rival.

This sharing through partnership agreements has an essential condition for Renault Group Executive Director François Provost: different brands, models with different and own design.

So he reiterated quoted by the British publication Autocar: “I'll never partner without enough differentiation. At Ford, Jim [Farley, Executive Director] has exactly the same vision. He said that if you choose a partnership with Renault, the car has to be a Ford.”.

The idea also involves long-term collaborations and not sporadic, always with this differentiating element between models: “Now you will see that it is different enough,” François Provost said.

Even within Renault Group, different brands use the same platforms, but differentiation is essential. The leader exemplified with the case of the second generation of Dacia Spring, which has the same foundations as Twingo: “Twingo and Spring look like different cars, but the platform is the same“, he observed.

It looks like a Renault Twingo, but it's a Nissan: here's the new Pixo

The Nissan Pixo was revealed this Wednesday (September 23). It's a segment electric city The one that shares the technical base with Renault Twingo E-Tech. And the design is very similar.
