After the news was advanced through a video of nephew Brian Seaver, who was shared on Instagram, the artist's team released a statement where the cause of his death is confirmed.
Its representatives revealed that the interpreter of themes such as “Jolene” died following a “short battle against cancer”. But they didn't give any more details about the type of cancer.
“Our dear Dolly Parton spent her life and career bringing joy, laughter, hope and integrity to everything she touched. Her unparalleled generosity came to the lives of countless people she would never meet, but she was always there to give a friendly hand”, they wrote at first in the statement.
“ Whether it's the hundreds of millions of books donated through your invaluable Imagination Library or research funding that helped create a lifesaving vaccine and is used worldwide, Dolly's unconditional love for all people was the driving force of its lasting impact. After bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly left today's life at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, surrounded by his loved ones“it can still be read in the same note.
The first reactions to Dolly Parton's death and the singer's wishes for her funeral
Soon after Dolly Parton’s death was reported, the social networks ‘filled’ with reactions, among them stand out the messages of the various known faces who wanted to pay him a public tribute.
Reese Witherspoon, for example, said she was “very grateful to life for calling Dolly a friend,” and recalled her support when she played June Carter Cash in “Walk the Line”.
“She took me to dinner and told me stories about how June Carter charmed everyone in country music. Dolly gave me the courage to put my whole soul on that paper and made me realize how lucky I had to be a storyteller. Throughout my career, she sent me little messages of encouragement and support, telling me to be a light in people's lives and listen to my angels. She always signed: “I will always love you”, said the actress, confessing later how much she will miss the singer.
Jamie Lee Curtis, Ellen DeGeneres or Khloé Kardashian were other of the many known names that soon reacted to Dolly Parton's death, and these were the first messages to be shared on social networks.
The international press revealed, however, the details of the funeral ceremonies. Dolly Parton’s funeral will be “a small and private ceremony for the nearest family”, something that was requested by her own.
The TMZ further detailed that the intimate ceremony is being planned to take place in Nashville, Tennessee, “in the coming days”, with the presence of the closest relatives and loved ones.
