O Kremlin confirmed today that preparations are underway for a possible meeting between the Presidents of Russia, Vladimir Putin, the United States, Donald Trump, and China, Xi Jinping, at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit (APEC).
“Works are already under way to organize this meeting,” said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov, quoted by the British Financial Times.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry indicated only that Beijing “is in contact with the relevant parties” about a possible meeting between Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin, without making any reference to Trump’s participation.
The U.S. President is expected to travel in two weeks to the Chinese city of Shenzhen to attend the APEC summit scheduled for November 18th and 19th.
During the visit, Trump is to meet Xi Jinping, who will be the third meeting between the two leaders in 2026.
However, so far there is no official confirmation of a trilateral meeting including Putin.
On October 21, the Russian President called for a meeting with US and Chinese counterparts on the margins of the APEC summit to discuss the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.
Putin referred in particular to the conflict triggered by the military offensive launched in February by the United States and Israel against Iran.
