O President of the Republic, António José Seguro, today justified the absence of the Prime Minister of the press conference at the end of the Ibero-American Summit with the meetings that Luís Montenegro holds in Lisbon, stressing the coordination between them.
“ The Prime Minister is not here because he had to go to Portugal early in order to be able to receive party leaders in the context of something he has launched to find concrete solutions to respond to the housing crisis. I think that is more than plausible justification, and it was agreed between the two. So when people wake up, and naturally between organs of sovereignty, everything is fine”, said the head of state.
António José Seguro spoke to journalists at a press conference after the end of the 30th Ibero-American Summit, which took place in Madrid, a time when the Prime Minister is traditionally also present.
This was the first time that both the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister participated in the summit which brings together 22 countries: three Europeans, Portugal, Spain and Andorra, and 19 Latin Americans: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Cuba and the Dominican Republic.
The Madrid Summit was represented by Heads of State and Government, besides Portugal, and Spain: Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras and the Dominican Republic, and the presidents of Brazil (Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva) and Mexico (Claudia Sheinbaum), the two largest member states in terms of population, were absent.
