Simon Cowell will be absent from “America’s Got Talent” while undergoing a “habitual” back-related procedure, according to TMZ.

It is known that the jury of the program will have a back surgery soon and will therefore be away from the small screen for several weeks.

This is a “routine” procedure, as described by TMZ, and they have no indication that their health status is severe. Simon Cowell has experienced some health challenges, especially with regard to his back, after a serious accident with an electric bicycle in 2020. At the time he was operated and has since undergone some procedures.

TMZ also reports that it is not known who will replace Simon Cowell in the program and the exact period in which the famous juror will be absent. At his side, also in the role of juror, are Howie Mandel, Sofía Vergara and Mel B.

At the time of the accident, he reminds People, Simon Cowell fractured his back – in August 2020 – and was absent from much of the 15th season of “America’s Got Talent”. He was submitted to surgery that took about five hours.

In recalling the accident last year, Simon Cowell confessed that he feared the worst when he fell off the electric bicycle. “[The doctor] showed up the X-ray and said: “I’m not gonna lie, Simon, I don’t know if I can fix this, which means you probably won’t walk again, and the operation may take 11 hours,” he said in the podcast “How To Fail”, in conversation with Elizabeth Day.

“ They said the obvious – that it might not work – and all I could think about was my family and everything. At that moment, you realize that the most important thing is your health”, he added.
