The Somali Ministry of Defense stated in a statement that Danab’s special forces launched a “planned operation” in Buula Fulaay, in the Bay region (southwest), killing 14 suspects and destroying “the shelter where militants were hiding.”.
“ This operation is part of the Somali National Army’s ongoing efforts to eliminate al-Shabaab militants, ensure security and stabilize the country as a whole,” he said, praising the work of the troops, without providing information on possible casualties in the clashes.
The terrorist group has increased the attacks in recent months, taking areas north of Mogadishu, although authorities have strengthened their operations with the support of local clans and militias, all as part of the plan adopted by Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
