Um 64-year-old male, of Swiss nationality, died on Monday, “while he was bathing”, in the Balnear Complex of Doca do Cavacas, Funchal, on the island of Madeira. Causes of death are still unknown.
The National Maritime Authority (AMN), in a statement, said that they received the alert at 4:00 p.m. and that, upon arrival of the site, “it was found that the victim, who was in cardiorespiratory arrest, was promptly removed from the water by the lifeguards of service in the natural pools, having performed basic life support maneuvers”.
“ Since it was not possible to reverse the situation, the death check was performed by the physician of the Medical Rapid Intervention Team or Medical Rapid Intervention Team (EMIR) and, after contact with the Public Prosecutor, the body will be transported to the Medical and Forensic Office of Madeira ", indica.
On site were elements of the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Funchal, EMIR, the Humanitarian Association of Volunteers Madeirenses (AHBVM) and the Portuguese Red Cross.
The Maritime Police Bureau of Psychology has been activated.
