O Supreme Court of Justice reduce the sentence of former Minister of Economics, Manuel Pinho, to 8 years and 6 months, advances SIC News.

The former governor, remember, had appealed at the beginning of the year to the conviction of 2024, in which he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for having been allegedly corrupted by former banker Ricardo Salgado.

In question is the receipt by the former governor of about 4.9 million euros, including a monthly fee of around 15 thousand euros while integrating the first Government of José Socrates (PS), between 2005 and 2009, to favor the interests of Banco Espírito Santo (BES) and Grupo Espírito Santo (GES), particularly in real estate projects on the Alentejo coast.

Manuel Pinho, 71 years old, has been in house arrest since December 2021 and the almost five years he has been deprived of freedom will be discounted on the sentence.
