Portuguese artists Surma and Nuno Rancho perform in Central Park, New York, in the United States of America, on August 6th, in the context of Leiria's music dissemination project.

Otwo artists of national independent music will play at Rumsey Playfield, integrated in the programming of the SummerStage festival, which marks four decades of activity, the Leiria City Hall advances.
“ The participation of the two Leirian musicians confirms the growing international projection of the musical creation of Leiria, driven by the strategy developed by the municipality in the context of Leiria Cidade Criativa da Música da UNESCO ", says the autarchy in statement.
Surma and Nuno Rancho start their participation with a ‘DJ set’, before the concert that opens a night of the festival that has Andrew Bird as head of the poster, accompanied by Wordless Music Orchestra.
The presence of the two musicians in the United States of America takes place through the partnership between the municipality and the Art Institute, which promotes the international dissemination of Portuguese artists.
For the House of Leiria, the participation of artists from the county in the American festival represents “an important recognition of the quality of musical creation produced in Leiria and the growing affirmation of its artists in international circuits”.
“ This participation reinforces the internationalization strategy developed by the municipality of Leiria, which has been creating opportunities for musicians, composers and artistic projects of the municipality to present their work in international contexts of recognized prestige”, concludes the municipality, which intends to contribute to “affirm Leiria as a city of reference in contemporary musical creation”.
