O Polish Public Prosecutor today revealed that the suspect of planning the murder of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz had handcrafted explosive devices in his apartment.
The Polish authorities found “a dozen objects identified as handcrafted explosive materials” in the 66-year-old man’s residence after his arrest on Sunday, the Public Prosecutor Piotr Skiba indicated at a press conference.
According to Skiba, the metal spheres found inside a stun grenade were actually components of “explosive devices similar to fragmentation grenades”.
The suspect — identified in accordance with Polish privacy protection legislation such as Krzysztof N. — had also recruited other people who had weapons for the alleged attack, added the spokesman for Polish justice.
Indicted for nine crimes, including “project to overthrow by force state authorities”, the man did not confess the facts and refused to provide clarifications.
If convicted, you may face a sentence of between two and 15 years in prison.
Poland, a Member State of NATO and the European Union (EU) located on the east flank of the two blocs, is in a state of high alert following a recent wave of gun attacks.
