Nthe case of the Euribor rate at 12 months, the rise was 0.021 points against Tuesday, rising to 2.977%.

Six months ago, which passed in January 2024 to be the most used in Portugal in housing credits with variable rate, today increased 0.022 points, to 2.719 percent, above the 2.697% of the previous session.

Data from Banco de Portugal (BdP) for June indicate that six-month Euribor represents 39.9% of the ‘stock’ of loans for permanent own housing with variable rate.

The same data indicate that Euribor at 12 and at three months represent 31.3% and 24.38%, respectively.

In the shortest time, the drop was from 0.008 points to 2.492%.

In July, Euribor's monthly average rose again to 2.425 to three months, 2.647 to six months and 2.855 to 12 months.

The European Central Bank (ECB) maintained on 23 July the three leading rates, as anticipated by the market, which now foresees an increase in September.

At the previous monetary policy meeting on 11 June, the ECB first raised its principal rates since September 2023.

The ECB’s next monetary policy meeting will take place on 9 and 10 September in Berlin.

Euribors are fixed by the average rates at which a set of 21 banks in the euro area are willing to lend money to each other.
