O Tenerife will assume all the expenses of the daughter of only 16 months of Jesús de Miguel, player who went into cardiorespiratory arrest and died this week at the age of 30, following a violent shock with Jesús Owono, in the final moments of the meeting of the second echelon of Spanish football, before FC Andorra.
The announcement was made this Saturday by the majority shareholder of the Canary Islands club, Rayco García, in the course of a tribute to the advanced, at Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium, where family members, teammates and supporters had the opportunity to carry out a final farewell.
“ We'll sponsor this girl until she's 18. We won't allow you to lack anything, and that you can look at the island with a smile. The De Migual Alameda family will be in our hearts”, said the entrepreneur, visibly thrilled, in statements reproduced by Spanish radio Red Uno.
This gesture will cover all the needs that the child has over the coming years in terms of food, clothing, health and education. In addition, training has undertaken to closely monitor its growth for any type of additional support that may be necessary.
“ We want you to remember that you're not alone. Here they have a family”, added the captain, Enric Gallego, in a message addressed to Mary, companion of Jesus of Michael, as well as to his daughter and parents, who also made a point of attending this ceremony, which brought together thousands of people.
However, the gestures of solidarity did not stop here. In recent days, a group of players and teams from the neighbouring country managed to gather more than 100,000 euros to support the family affected by this tragedy. Burgos CF, next to Tenerife, also promised to offer him the entire box office recipe of the game between them.
Jesus Owono is living “the hardest days” of his life
FC Andorra, for its part, was “deeply affected by the death of Jesús de Miguel”, in a statement in which he shared the first words given by Jesús Owono after the so-called bid, which eventually led to the suspension of the meeting with Tenerife, at a time when he was tied to two balls.
“ These are the hardest days of my life. I find it hard to find the words and it is very difficult for me to assimilate everything that has happened. I feel a great pain for the loss of Jesus. I think of him, his family and everyone who liked him”, said the 25-year-old goalkeeper.
“ I know that there will be many issues to address, and I will face whatever comes, with all due respect. But right now, honestly, I can't think of anything other than Jesus and the pain we're living. Rest in peace, Jesus”, added the international by Equatorial Guinea, in this short note.
