A Tesla began to launch its services of autonomous taxi last year, with adapted versions of Model Y. Now, the Cybercab – the vehicle cut out for robotics services. And can be introduced already this month.
It is a truly autonomous car, being the first of the manufacturer led by Elon Musk without steering wheel and pedals – with only room for two passengers, without the need for human intervention on board in driving tasks.
According to The Information, the company will have already informed employees of the imminence of the commercial launch, starting with the city of Austin. Over the past few weeks, the tests have succeeded, not only on public roads but also in the transport of staff in private areas and training with first aid teams.
The idea is that the release takes place in late august, but timing may not be fulfilled depending on the course of the preparations. In a first phase, Cybercab will have to transport Tesla officials on the public road before reaching the commercial fleet of the builder's robot taxi service in Austin.
That Texan city was, in June last year, the first to receive Tesla's autonomous taxis. Now, you're on the verge of being a pioneer again, with the arrival of the innovative Cybercab.
Tesla already announces release event
Without any specific dates released, Tesla is already announcing the launch of the new autonomous taxi. You can read in a social media publication: “Walk a robot until August 23 to have the opportunity to attend our Cybercab launch event.”.
