O republican American president Donald Trump today argued that a possible process of impeachment against him would destroy the Democrats at a time when political opponents conquered the majority in Congress.
“ I think I'd destroy the Democratic Party if they did. Why, an impeachment process for no reason? Why? For having a successful country? Our country is now more successful than at any other time in its history,” Trump said in response to the questions of journalists in the White House during its first public appearance after the mid-term elections held on Tuesday.
A possible dismissal of Trump would, however, have reduced chances of success, since a two-thirds majority in the Senate would be required.
The Republican leader also stated that he is not considering firing the U.S. Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, despite the voters' dissatisfaction with the war in Iran.
