Little Leonor, eight years old, and Mother Cecilia Teixeira, 31 years old, arrived dressed in Yungblud t-shirts to witness the opening of the Vilar de Mouros festival, which started today under a radiant sun and temperatures of 30 degrees.

Oleonor's parents want to surprise their daughter today and decided to bring her to Vilar de Mouros for the first time to see the concerts, but the little one still doesn't know she's going to see tonight Yungblud, her idol, live at the festival.

Asked about how he would feel if Yungblud acted tonight, Leonor smiled, shining in his eyes, and said he would “be foolish with happiness”, because he is his favorite singer.

At the beginning of the afternoon, petiza was excited to see the British singer and composer Tom A. Smith, 22 years old; while raising his arms and giving a dance foot, she still managed to say that she is finding the festival “incredible”.

The mother of the small festivaleira, Cecilia Teixeira, says that she also loves 29-year-old Yungblud, and that her favorite song is Zombie from the album Idols.

Louis Hills, five years old, wearing a hat to protect from the hot August sun, is listening to his father's chivalry Tom A. Smith, the musician chosen to start the Vilar de Mouros festival, which opened the doors today at 3:00 p.m.

Her 40-year-old mother, Ana Hills, tells us that her family arrived on Ferrel Sunday in Peniche, Leiria district, and that she is camping in Vilar de Mouros the five days of the festival, because her husband is a rock fanatic and came especially to see the British punk rock duo Lambrini Girls, and the British band Cabaret Voltaire.

“This is the first time we have come and are enjoying the environment and the organization,” said Ana Hills, recognizing, however, that space could have more activities for children.

At the first concert, on the first day of the Vilar de Mouros 2026, about 200 festivals attended the performance of Tom A. Smith, among them the French Emilie Prat, 22, who arrived from Bordeaux to see especially President and Yungblud.

The first impressions of the festival is that it is “well organized” and that it is “very quiet”. “I am worshipping”, he confesses.

Also Rui Caetano, 27 years old, from Guimarães, is a newcomer in Vilar de Mouros and, like practice, his friends forced him to bring a brown stuffed monkey with a meter and 60 height to carry it on his back while watching the concerts.

“The festival is very quiet and is 100%, but I think they could improve by putting more garbage cans to put the cigarette beatas,” said young Rui Caetano, who has been camping in Vilar de Mouros since Sunday and who is looking forward to seeing his election band, The Hives.

Along with the concerts, there are hundreds of festival-goers who took advantage this afternoon of the freshness of the Coura River in the Azenhas River Beach, to bathe and wash the dust that is released from the dry land and glues itself to the body.

Other festivals prefer to sit in the shade of the green trees in contemplation, in a kind of peaceful connection with the natural and silent habitat of Vilar de Mouros.

Today they are still on stage at the festival The Molotvs, Lambrin Girls, Cabaret Voltaire, President and Yungblud.

Bands like Dropkick Murphys, Fishbone, Ugly Kid Joe, Less Than Jake, Grid 2, Kasabian, Kula Shaker, Kaiser Chiefs, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, War, Body Count, Mark Ramone and many others will spend the next five days on the stage of Vilar de Mouros.

Last year, Vilar de Mouros received about 50,000 people and the expectation is that this year the number will be exceeded, told Lusa Paulo Ventura, director of the festival.

The first large music festival in Portugal enjoys the fame of the “Woodstock à português” and the first edition took place in 1971 in Vilar de Mouros, having suffered an eight-year interregno, between 2006 and 2014.

The first edition was launched by physician António Barge (1971) and was attended by Elton John and Manfred Mann.
