A declaration “should be presented until 31 October of each year”, reads in a ordinance signed by the Minister of Agriculture and Mar, José Manuel Fernandes, published in Diário da República.
In the diploma, the government indicated that the delivery period initially ended on 15 November of each year and was subsequently changed to the 30th of the same month for administrative convenience.
However, it justified a further adjustment with the “current situation of the wine sector” in order to ensure compliance of the compulsory registers, prevent any manipulation and strengthen competitiveness.
Nevertheless, he stressed that in exceptional cases there may be an extension.
Wine growers associated with one or more wineries or groups and who have delivered all their grape or must production to them, “having reserved the right to obtain by winemaking a quantity less than 1,000 litres for consumption of the household”, shall be exempted from submitting the declaration, “provide that the winery or group concerned is obliged to do so”.
The declaration shall be submitted through the Wine and Wine Information System (SIVV).
The ordinance concerned shall enter into force on Wednesday.
