Carlos Sainz will continue to represent Williams in Formula One, after reaching agreement for renew – in a multiannual contract whose concrete duration has not been revealed.
Currently in the second season at the service of Grove's team, the experienced Spaniard knows what it's like to win in the queen category and is seen as one of the key pieces to make the way back to successes.
In 2025, Carlos Sainz obtained two podiums, both in third place, which helped him finish the championship in ninth. This year, after the profound regulatory changes, Williams has been less competitive and has only added six points – it has been zero for six rounds.
Madrid’s natural pilot explained the decision to continue: “There are several reasons to stay and keep trying with the team. First and foremost, it is because of the people who form this great family. I believe in the strength of the group to be successful, and I think people at Williams have the right talent, motivation and passion to take this team back to the top. There are also many changes, investments and projects behind the scenes that make me believe that we're on the right track“.
James Vowles, Williams' team leader, spoke about the renovation with Carlos Sainz: “He is a leader of this team and I am thrilled that he can see what is possible as we continue to rebuild it. It's not only his racing qualities and speed that stand out, but also the work he does behind the scenes looking for high performance. [...]. Along with Alex, I truly believe we have one of the strongest teams in the platoon and a team capable of fighting for each piece of performance together.”.
