Dafter this time, ed Hyundai should pause your program in the main category of the World Rally (WRC) – after more than a decade of activity.

According to AS, you'll bet on WRC 2 again, the second level of the championship, in that it is the time that marks the beginning of a new era for the queen class – with widely changed regulations.

The plans are to update the i20 Rally2, whose next evolution should be approved. But it's not a goodbye forever.

The same source says that, on the table, hyundai's return to the top of the WRC in 2029 – when to launch the new i20, in addition to being in perspective new regulations in which each manufacturer can choose engine technology.

It remains to be seen what will happen to the current pilots, Adrien Fourmaux and Thierry Neuville, at a time when WRC will have only M-Sport Ford, Toyota and the new private projects RMC Motorsport/RFEDA and Project Rally One in its ranks.

O Auto to Minuto has already sent a request for confirmation and clarification to the manufacturer, currently awaiting a response.

Over a decade in WRC

Hyundai's World Rally project with i20 (first WRC, now Rally1) began in 2014, quickly entering the podium fight with pilots such as Dani Sordo or Thierry Neuville.

The highlight was the 2019 and 2020 seasons, with two consecutive builder titles. In those years, they aligned not only the two pilots already mentioned, but also men like Ott Tänak or Sébastien Loeb.

New highlight in 2024: In the year that it completed a decade of activity, Hyundai WRT celebrated its first pilot title thanks to Thierry Neuville, who also became world champion for the first (and until now unique) time in its career.

This year, when only three rounds to go, Hyundai has in Adrien Fourmaux its best pilot, occupying the fifth position at 67 points of leadership. Among the builders, the South Koreans follow in second, with less 173 points than the Toyota leader.

New “Flying Finnish” added historical victory at the World Rally

Sami Pajari won this last weekend the Paraguayan Rally, making history by being the first to add the first absolute victory to two more consecutively.
