The moving “declaration of love” of Júlio Isidro a Eunice Muñoz

Júlio Isidro decided to “hand in hand with memories” remember one of the great figures of the Portuguese theatre: Eunice Muñoz. The iconic 81-year-old Portuguese presenter wanted in an emotional text to remember the life and work of the actress.

“ If I were a writer, a good one, what beautiful phrases I would write about the divine Eunice. Since I am not, I have done everything I can and know how to remember hand kissed pictures and scenes of the full life of this lady who, leaving us, spread an ethereal silence among us ", started by saying.

Eunice Muñoz was born on 30 July 1928 in Amarleja, and died at the age of 93 on 15 April 2022. 

According to Júlio Isidro the diva of the theater “was too big to smoke before this banal and obligatory thing that is death”.

“It has been four years, but those who loved her continue to see her and listen to her in every beat of the score that was her life, a work of art that she shared many times in conversations with me. It is so comforting to give him your hand and feel the growing fragility of this link, subject to the inexorable march of the days that passed.”

Julio Isidro recalled the many times he had the opportunity to, before the chambers, talk with Eunice Muñoz about the theater and life. The communicator also took the opportunity to regret that the episode of "Party is Party" in which he interviewed the actress had been deleted from RTP's archive. 

“ I remember the day you were queen of my "Party is Party" program, a four-hour presence that someone had erased because history would be a past thing to smell like mold. It is the conquerors of the future who sink at the speed of light,” he said. 

Finally, he described his sharing as a “declaration of love for a lady who filled with magic, the stages of our existences”. 

“ When I speak of Eunice, I tone with affection as if to knit a linen piece.

This brief text is my valentine to Eunice Muñoz. I believe they will read it, revive it and drop a tear, so that in the end a huge applause will burst to one of the most inspired and inspiring women of our time. If I were a poet, how many verses would I write having it as an inspiring muse”, ended. 

Júlio Isidro shared this beautiful tribute on his official Facebook page, making a point of identifying one of Eunice Muñoz's sons, António Munhoz Borges.

Dishonested by the words addressed to his mother, António responded to the presenter with sincere thanks for his affection, consideration and friendship. 

“Dear Julius. Your words can only translate your friendship and mutual admiration – you have heard from my mother as often as she had a great admiration for you, for your work, throughout your journey. He told me times and times. Thank you. A huge hug.”
