Porco after ten o’clock in the evening and the sound of the motto “25 de Abril always, fascism never again”, the camp in defense of housing was again mounted in Rossio square in Lisbon.

The safety wheel made by the protesters and requested by the organizers of the Lisbon Camp to those who do not stay overnight gave time to, in a few minutes, raise the 'iglus', similar to the tents removed by the police early on Tuesday, when 55 people were arrested.

The fifth popular assembly in Lisbon lasted over three hours this evening, and it took place peacefully.

Between shouts of order, applause and apupos, the voices of the protesters and their proposals were shared before several hundred people who went to Praça D. Pedro IV.

The tension happened only when part of the camp was assembled, at the time a man broke into the square with a flag of Israel, but quickly it was removed by policemen who were on the scene.

Then there were requests for help to set up the tents or extend the rugs for the film session, since today the music was not present like the last days.

Among the crowd there are many young faces, but there are also less young citizens with the common goal of dignified housing, as they shouted in unison several times.

On the posters, mostly made on cards, everyone’s complaints are read: “I’m closer to heaven than getting home” or “I don’t want luxury, I want home”.

On the opposite side of the camp, next to the statue, there is a mattress with the inscription “apartment in Rossio 1,500 euros 1.2 m2”.

In the terraces that flank the square, the tourists seated seem alien to what is happening.

Traffic keeps circulating, but sometimes some cars whistle in solidarity and receive echoes from protesters.

The police are also at the scene.

At the end of the afternoon police source told Lusa that the PSP is constantly assessing the risk and will continue to privilege the dialogue, but if the protesters again set up the tents it would intervene.

At 11:30, the thermometer marks 13 degrees in Lisbon, but the thermal sensation is 11.

The camp is set up, the film still runs on the improvised screen.

Between demonstrations and so-called camped demonstrations, with hundreds or thousands of protesters, the current protests against the housing crisis began in Porto on October 10 and expanded to Lisbon, but they have also motivated concentrations in other cities, days after the parliamentary approval of the new rental law, now under discussion in the specialty.

The initiatives, promoted by civic movements and spread across social networks, demand measures that respond to the crisis in the sector, the control of the prices of essential goods and fuels and defend taxes on the extraordinary profits of large companies in the banking sector.

On October 15, the protesting movement in Porto, with a camp, denounced a violent police charge during the early hours that caused injuries in 39 of the participants, two of whom were in a serious state, and in a police officer. In Lisbon, the authorities removed dozens of Rossio tents early in the morning of Tuesday and held 55 demonstrators, who will be present to judge on 27.

Protest promoters promise to stay on the streets.
