A Amadora House wants to create support points for the population in all parishes of the municipality to reinforce the response to emergency situations, within a civil protection project, today released the municipality.
The initiative, called the “Lighthouse Network”, includes the installation of meeting spaces, which will have available communication and information equipment, an external automatic defibrillator, mobile device loading points, a water cooler and a fire-fighting hydrant.
In statements to the agency Lusa, the mayor of Amadora, Vítor Ferreira (PS), explained that the objective is to install six spaces, one per parish, until the end of 2027, and can extend the network to 24 points in 2029.
“ We want to strengthen individual and collective preparation for emergency situations, as we increasingly have scenarios that we are not expecting. Therefore, we must prepare ourselves for what are the emergencies of the populations ", argued the mayor.
For example, Vítor Ferreira recalled the difficulties experienced during the blackout last year, particularly in the communications and preservation of medicines that need cooling.
The project represents an estimated investment of around EUR 1 million for the installation of the 24 points.
The municipality admits to using lines of funding in the area of civil protection, but intends to advance regardless of the approval of applications.
