O The Angola Gas Master Plan was presented this Thursday by the National Agency for Oil, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG), during the second and last day of Angola Oil & Gas (AOG) 2026, the annual conference that brings together several global agents of the energy sector.
The industrial poles are in Cabinda, Soyo, Porto Amboim, Benguela and Namibe and, of the planned investment, “about seven billion dollars are associated with midstream (phase between extraction and mining) and six billion to downstream (processing and selling).
ANPG’s executive administrator, Artur Custódio, indicated that “Angola has more than 15 billion cubic feet of monetizable gas, in addition to the volumes already allocated to Angola LNG”
Among the intended uses to sustain national industrialisation are fertilizers, petrochemicals and gas energy production.
The internal use of this resource was also highlighted by Manuel Barros, CEO of Sonangol Gas, who argued that “gas must be profitable in Angola to stimulate industrial activity.”.
One of the projects mentioned was the Amufert complex, in Soyo, which targets the production of 1.4 million tons of granulated urea and 800,000 tons of ammonia, according to the publication.
The last day of Angola Oli & Gas also addressed the refining and security of fuel supplies, with Angola defining as “to achieve a refining capacity of 425 thousand barrels per day, in a context in which the country spent around 1.96 billion dollars (€1.69 billion) on the import of refined products in the first half of 2026”.
The Lobito Refinery, designed to process 200,000 barrels per day, continues among the projects associated with increased Angolan national capacity.
In the field of exploration, ANPG announced its intention to “perforate at least ten wells per year, accompanied by the strengthening of exploration and seismic activity, to increase knowledge and use of the country’s oil and gas potential”.
