Carmen dos Santos speaks at the opening of the VI edition of the E&M Conference on “Blue Economy”, dedicated to the theme “From the Maritime Potential to Industrial Development – Port and Transport Infrastructures, Transformation and New Value Chains”.

According to the minister, the sector currently has the largest number of vessels working over the 200 miles and about 1,650 kilometers from the Atlantic coast, “a notorious presence and committed to the need for organization”.

Still on the landing sites of fish, the Angolan ruler stressed that 115 quays are informal and conflict with other occupations on the Angolan sea coast.

The Minister for Fisheries and Marine Resources stressed that the sector is trying to carry out the work, which it hopes to conclude next year, of organizing landing sites, “bringing infrastructure, auctions organized with basic things such as ice, water, energy, conservation, sanitary inspection, ship maintenance, adequate transport and all related operations that can be guessed when an industry settles”.

“It is in this type of initiatives that we bring the offer we have been making, which is to bring investment of public and private quality,” the minister said.

Carmen dos Santos stressed that the objective is to obtain an investment that, in addition to building infrastructure, also brings its maintenance and support to vessels, which within Angolan territory make the production of fish.

The owner of the Fisheries and Marine Resources folder said that the sector has the Lobito Corridor, infrastructure that links the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia by rail to the Angolan coast, in the port of Lobito, for the disposal of fish, a perishable product, and also of salt.

“ It is this link that the corridors will bring us, looking at the connection of the coast to the lands of the east, effectively covering the entire continental area of Angola, and that effectively allow us to make a regional export, which appears important, structured and that contributes effectively to our economy and for this it is necessary organization ", highlighted.

At the round table, the CEO of the Standard Bank Angola, André Reigota, focused the intervention on the financing issue, and said that “Angola is not alone competing for a capital that is scarce but exists.”.

The estimated global financial gap of the African continent is about 100 billion dollars (86.6 billion euros) per year, he said.

André Reigota said that access to funding is essential for Angola to be capable, efficient and agile in the presentation and structuring of projects, “so that we can get ahead in the race for capital that exists on the African continent”.

The manager also stressed that the bank handles well predictability and the distribution of project risks, reiterating the need to find quality projects that attract this capital.
