A Anthropic announced revenues of 16.8 billion dollars (14.8 billion euros) in the third quarter, plus 45% compared to the previous quarter, several ‘media’ reported, a few weeks before entering the stock exchange.
These figures, not audited, were presented on Wednesday during an event reserved for institutional investors at the company's headquarters in San Francisco, according to Bloomberg and the Financial Times (FT). The U.S. artificial intelligence company (IA) refused to comment.
However, growth is slowing: revenue had more than doubled in the spring, from USD 4.8 billion (EUR 4.3 billion) in the first quarter to EUR 11.6 billion (EUR 10.6 billion) in the second.
The company also claims to have been profitable for the second consecutive quarter on an “adjusted basis”, a non-standard indicator that excludes, inter alia, the remuneration in shares, according to the Financial Times.
According to documents consulted by Bloomberg and other media, the company suffered losses of almost USD 42 billion (EUR 37,5 billion) in 2025. Of this total, around 34 billion (EUR 30.4 billion) are due to accounting adjustments that did not imply an effective cash outflow.
Operating loss, closest to actual expenditure, exceeded eight billion dollars (€7.14 billion) for revenues of $4.6 billion (€4.1 billion) in 2025.
Anthropic also claims that it currently generates more cash than it consumes and collects 1.7 dollars (1.61) of revenue for each dollar spent on computing capacity, according to these sources.
These indicators cannot be verified in the absence of published accounts: the prospectus, presented confidentially in June, has not yet been disclosed.
However, these revenues remain much lower than the amounts invested in the AI race. Each generation of models requires more computing capacity to be trained and then to respond to a demand that exceeds available capabilities.
Anthropic, which rents most of its computing capacity to Amazon, Google or SpaceX, provides for more than 500 billion dollars (€446.6 billion) in infrastructure expenditure over ten years, according to France Télécom.
Anthropic will be able to start the sale of shares already in the week of November 9, with a view to a quotation before Thanksgiving, on November 26, anticipates Bloomberg, updating a calendar already postponed several times: by the end of August, the American agency had announced the publication of the listing dossier on the following days.
The company never confirmed a date.
Investors rate the company between 1,800 and 2,000 billion dollars (EUR 1,607 and 1,786 billion), twice the value in May (US$ 965 billion/862 billion).
Entry into the stock exchange may exceed the record set by SpaceX, which raised 85.7 billion (EUR 76.5 billion) in June.
In a preliminary version of the prospectus, Anthropic reiterated to potential investors that the AI it is developing could pose “existential risks for humanity”, according to the document cited by France Télécom.
