Nthe daily rush can be a challenge to keep the laundry basket empty, after all this accumulates with great ease. In view of this, behind them are other things that need washing, but which are mostly forgotten.
Experts reveal to the Real Simple the top seven.
1. Mattress covers
Once changed every week, sheets are washed as regularly as recommended. However, the same does not happen with the cover or mattress protector.
Although it is not necessary to wash them at the same frequency, it is good to do so at least once a month, and it should increase if you sleep with pets.
2. Protective covers
Does your living room smell nasty? Marieke Van der Graaf, founder of Laundrylicious, says it's important to remove the covers from the sofas if possible.
3. Decorative cushions
Decorating cushions can completely lose their beauty if they are dirty, something that happens because they are moved with frequencies by hands. These should be washed every three/six months.
4. Bed skirts
“ They may not look dirty at first sight, but they attract wires and debris over time”, notes Van der Graaf. It is recommended to wash it between 3/6 months.
5. Curtains
Curtains also tend to accumulate a lot of dirt, dust and hair. For most cases an annual or quarterly wash is recommended if they are in a very moving zone.
6. Currants
If you wear a duvet cover, Van der Graff recommends washing it every three months. You can also remove the cover and wash it as it gets dirty.
7. Oven gloves
Bacteria present in food may pose a health risk. These should be washed every week or when they are very dirty.
