Dand according to the final decision, released today at the official website of DGArtes, the Visual Arts contest of the Project Support Program 2025, to be realized this year, had 232 applications, 74 of which will be supported with a total of 1,940.000 euros.

Of the 96 applications that remained unsupported, the majority (60) does not receive funding because “the overall amount available has been exhausted”.

In addition, 36 applications were not supported because they were below the 60% minimum score required.

In this competition there were also 62 excluded applications, because the projects were “inconformity” with aspects defined in the Opening Notice.

Of the 74 projects supported, 45 are in the area of plastic arts, 13 of new media, nine of photography, five of architecture and two of design.

Most of the projects (55) are of creation, with the remaining (19) programming.

In geographical terms, 22 are from the North, 20 from the Greater Lisbon, nine from the Center, eight from the Alentejo, four from the West and the Tagus Valley, four from the Algarve, four from the Autonomous Region of the Azores, two from the Setúbal Peninsula and one from the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

Among the projects supported are, for example, the edition of 2027 of the Wool.

DGArtes opened, at the end of January, the competitions of the 2025 Project Support Programme – which includes this programme support – with a total allocation of €13.35 million, the same value of 2023 and 2024.

The deadline for submission to this competition – and to all of the Project Support Program 2025 – was until March 12, but it was extended until April 2, taking into account the consequences of the bad weather recorded at the beginning of the year, which affected the artistic sector, especially in the Center region.

The organisations representing the Culture sector have repeatedly warned of the delays in the opening of DGArtes competitions and their underfunding.

When last year the results of the Project Support Program competitions were revealed, dozens of structures were again out of funding, although they were considered eligible for support, as had happened in previous years.

This year, the final results of the Internationalization contest were also published, in which 115 projects were supported, with 41 remaining unsupported for having exhausted the available funding, although they had a final score above 60%.

In the Programming contest, 71 artistic projects were supported, with 110 applications without support for lack of funding, even though they had a final score above 60%.

In the Project Support in Creation and Programming competition – Discipline Crossing About a third of the applications were unsupported because the funding that allowed 99 artistic projects was exhausted.

This competition had 283 applications, with 108 applications left unsupported, the large majority (95) of which will not receive any money because “the overall amount available has been exhausted”.

In addition, 13 applications were not eligible for support because they were below 60% minimum score required.
